I Believe

I think it is happening. Yesterday, D walked on his own, at his own initiative, from our guest room to our bedroom. For those not familiar with our home, that means he walked from one side of the house to the other...without falling and without assistance, and all because he wanted to. He did this many times yesterday! It is so amazing to watch him realize that he can indeed walk from place to place, and to elect to walk somewhere rather than crawl or walk only at our insistance. We took him to a wide open grassy area yesterday on a walk and he even walked a bunch in the grass. A little less steady of course, but walked nonetheless! We look forward to the next few days to see if the trend continues. Here is a little video of him rounding the corner and heading to Mommy's waiting arms.

Watch out Mommy, here I come!

Yesterday we also got the good word that while my laptop is indeed destroyed (this much we figured) they will be able to recover the hard drive information. Whew! BIG.HUGE.WHEW!!! I would have been beside myself if we had lost so many of D's first birthday pictures. They should have it to us by Tuesday, so I can then resume normal breathing again. And, the fun part is picking out a new laptop. Not something we anticipated buying this year, but will be fun nonetheless :).

Also yesterday I was able to get outside on my first outdoor training ride of the year with my friend R (another wonderful feature of having G home)! It was fabulous! So nice not to be looking at the garage or the inside of the gym. We had perfect weather and a wonderful 17-mile (I believe) route with a nice long downhill at the end. This morning I did the run-bike at the gym with the distances for the tri and it was smooth sailing, and have been swimming regularly twice a week, so...bring on the tri :)!

D is really cruising! Great job on your training - you're going to rock that tri! :-)
