Friday, G's training at MacDill AFB was finally complete. MacDill is actually home to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) consisting of Special Forces from a variety of armed services (including Army Airborne and Navy SEALs). They are usually The First There, in-and-out of a given area, accomplishing their mission without anyone knowing . . . even the media. They have the unique role to:"Provide fully capable Special Operations Forces to defend the United States and its interests. Plan and synchronize operations against terrorist networks."
It's located on a peninsula around the Tampa Bay area and known by many as the "Tip of the Spear." These guys are studs, in better physical shape than 90% of the guys selected on day 1 of the NFL Draft (while making less than 1% of their salary) and rightfully have several video games named after them.
LMW was awesome enough to show us around the area and hit one of the local beaches:
We had a great trip to St. Pete Beach. This was D's first swim in the ocean due to the fact the water in Monterey is pretty cold and Albuquerque is a desert. As you can see, he was pretty stoked to walk along the ocean with his feet in the water sporting his favorite lime green USMC sniper hat. D's
other main activity was playing with shells we had found and Mom and Dad spent mos
t of their time removing the aforementioned shells from D's mouth. Thanks to SPF 55 sunblock (aka liquid shirt) there were no sunburn casualties . . . except portions of Mom's back which were neglected due to intense focusing on D. Thanks again to LMW and the men and women of USSOCOM for a great trip to sunny Tampa, FL!
On a side note, the family fantasy baseball team has taken a turn for the worse. We have some key players in the middle of massive slumps and our bullpen has been lit up like a pinball machine. Hopefully with the resurgence of our starting pitcher and some key additions at the corner infield positions we can gain some ground . . . soon. More to come.

What a fun trip! Looks like D had a blast at the beach.
Nice Blog G! Looks like you guys had a blast! Are we ready to suit D up in some SCUBA gear yet? Looks like he's almost ready... C's such a sweetheart for letting G post a blog! Are the Cleveland Boys gonna start hitting soon? Tribe needs offense!
I'm kind of relieved that G posted the blog - some of the phrasing just didn't sound like C. Glad you had fun in Tampa - we LOVE the Gulf of Mexico.
Sounds like you guys had a great time on your trip to the beach. Chuck Norris better watch out for D now that he has been through training and has his new hat...
LOL! I'm not so sure the "Disclaimer" was necessary...the links to USSOCOM and the Navy Seals were clue enough for me. :)
It was so great hanging out with you guys a few weeks ago, I hope I'll get to return the favor and visit you soon! - L
