What a Weekend

We had a very busy and fun weekend! Saturday, G spent most of the morning and early afternoon helping our friend and neighbor, B, strip the floors. It was quite the undertaking, and quite messy :). We are almost ready for the tile to be installed this coming weekend, though on Friday G & B will be busy again pulling out all the kitchen appliances, washer/dryer and toilet. Fun fun fun!

Saturday early evening we had a great time at our friends R & R's house for a joint birthday party for their two kiddos, M (2 years) & CA (1 year). There are some great pictures on their blog Irish Twins of all the fun! D had a fabulous time with all the kids and toys, and really enjoyed the balloons! M & CA were nice enough to let D bring one of the clusters home to play with here. Thank goodness since it helps distract him from all the newly revealed no nos. Here he is enjoying the balloons:

D also got a fun pair of sunglasses at the party...he wears his sunglasses at home...:

Sunday brought about an early morning in preparation for the triathlon...but no earlier than D usually rouses the household :). R and I were off at 6:45 AM and R and G plus the kiddos joined us in time for the start at 8:30 AM. It was a great way to start Mother's Day with our husbands and kids there to watch and cheer for us!! G and D were there for each transition and elsewhere along the way, though I only saw them during the transitions and at the end when they were yelling for me as I was pretty focused on each event. All the training paid off! It was a 3 mile run, 20 kilometer bike and 400 meter swim. I finished each in 25:33, 38:28, and 8:02 respectively. I was pleased with everything except the swim, but given that I was fighting with tons of people who swam much slower (and mowing them over along the way), I think my time was ok. I now see the value in starting with the swim so you can swim with people who swim the same speed as you :). And, I actually placed 35/232 women (132/415 total)!!! My legs are a bit sore today, and I was tired last night, but I am ready to start training for the next one already.

We enjoyed a great BBQ lunch with R & R and their kiddos afterwards too. Nothing like the reward of a big, yummy meal after a hard race! Then it was off to our friend C's house for a little bit of game day. G had fun playing an Xbox 360 game while I chased D around and then I relaxed while G chased D :). We left when they pulled out a game called Zombies as D was quickly becoming a Zombie-in-need-of-a-nap!

We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend and for those who are mothers, we hope you had a fabulous Mother's Day!!!
