A Busy Week

D and G are currently both napping and so I finally have a few moments of peace and quiet to sit and reflect on our busy past few weeks. First, I went back to work this past week...20 hours (10 in the office and 10 at home). While it definitely made things busy, it was nice to feel professional again :)...though working in HR you often deal with adults behaving like children, so how much of a break it is, I am not entirely certain! Second, we have been in the midst of our first floor floor remodel for two weeks: first everything was ripped up and out; a week later the tile was installed; a week later the hard wood was installed; and hopefully within the next week or two the carpet will be installed. And then it will be done, except for some touch-up painting and maybe hiring a plumber to fix our guest bathroom toilet and refrigerator since those two items seem to be causing fits for everyone :). The last thing we want after going through this process is water leaking on the new floors!! And, we did have to replace the dishwasher as the old one was leaking, but we were prepared because it was getting very old and sounded horrible…as if it would give out any day. Even though the house has been a complete mess for the past few weeks, it is starting to feel normal again and the new floors look fantastic!!! Here are a few pictures:

We bought a little pool for D this weekend so we can start taking him out whenever to enjoy splashing around. We figured he would have a good time in this one since he can actually walk around in it and use the slide. I also finally caved and bought some water floaties for him to use the next time we go to the big pool. I am hoping they will help him learn to start kicking and moving around on his own without one of us constantly floating him around. We’ll see. Here are some pictures of him enjoying his new pool and his friend, P:

And, though we don’t have any pictures of these events, we had a very busy weekend attending: a first birthday party for one of our friend’s grandson; a breakfast with some friends who were in town from FC; a Memorial Day Jam Fest at one of our friend’s houses; and G managed to squeeze in poker games two nights. Oh yea, and the hardwood floor install was also this weekend :). Here is a great picture of D getting ready to make a VERY.BIG.MESS...err, eat.

PS. Where are you going to store the pool? I hope the wind doesn't blow it to Amarillo!
