Tri Training

What does one do with the frustration of not getting preggo? Train for a little tri :)! The reason this makes sense? I was training for a tri when I got preggo with D. My friend, R, inspired me to get myself in gear (really in gear) and train for a small tri in April. Exercise, while one of my most favorite past-times, has been rather difficult this past year with G being gone. We do have a baby jogger, but running gets pretty old if you do it all the time, and our recent bout with sicknesses coupled with cold weather kind of eliminated that option for a while. And, I was reluctant to take D to the gym daycare until he was old enough to crawl because I wasn't comfortable with the facilities for non-crawling kiddos. Then the first time I did take him (FINALLY) in January was when we got hit with RSV. But, this past week I was able to get back to the gym twice (the most I will go/week due to $$$$$$); once to swim and once to bike. And thankfully, with our return to health and some nicer weather, we can get outside again for some runs. It is such a glorious feeling to be back at it again...I have really missed having a training goal over the past year. 2005 had us training for the Ironhorse bike ride (Durango, CO to Silverton, CO), and 2006 had me training for the Santa Fe Century bike ride, the Ironhorse, and the tri (which I had to drop out of on the Docs orders). 2007 was a bit of a training desert :), and I am working to ensure 2008 is not the same. I am also hoping that having this goal will help me focus on something besides our lack of ability to conceive kiddo #2 and at the same time, help me get back into the shape I am used to being in...rather than post-kiddo #1 awaiting preggo with kiddo #2 shape! On a side note, if you like to bike, you REALLY should try the Ironhorse...it is the most amazing ride I have ever done, and the most physically challenging. And, without a doubt, the most beautiful and most fulfilling!!

I so wish that you lived closer to me. So few Mamas (or people) share my passion for exercise. I would love to train together. Alas. Maybe someday.

As for frustration re: pregnancy, remember that seeing your husband every other weekend is not exactly a boon for fertility:) No need to stress. I am sure it will happen quickly once the two of you are back in the same house. And I can't wait to hear about it!!
