Hug a Tree
D's current favorite outdoor activity is batting at the pine trees in our yard and then trying to eat any pieces he manages to pull off. Earlier, I told you how much he like to beeline for these trees when we play outside, and that has not changed. Today, he stood by one of the trees for 15 minutes just happily swinging his hands at the pine needles. 15.WHOLE.MINUTES of uninterrupted play time. Three boys on skateboards zoomed past our house and still D kept playing with the tree. I actually have to pull him away to go elsewhere and explore. And yes, he managed to keep his little OSU hat on almost the whole time we were outside playing...as long as it was on backwards. He will have nothing to do with it when it is on the other way :-). He has also been having a great time at the gym daycare! Every time I pick him up, he is playing in this house/castle thing and just loving it. They tell me that he will have nothing to do with crawling when he is there...he just wants to cruise around from toy to toy. I am so relieved that he is having fun as it allows me some focused and guilt-free exercise time. I also finally found a bike trainer we have had for a while (collecting dust I am ashamed to say), and got my bike all ready to go and hooked up so I can start riding in the garage while D is napping. While the gym has great bikes for training purposes, there is nothing like actually training on your own bike. Of course, the views in the garage leave much to be desired, but as soon as G is home I can get out and enjoy the ABQ views once again!
