Dino Day

We made our way up to the big D yesterday to spend some time with Uncle B, Aunt K, S and E. We're finding it harder and harder to squeeze in day-long trips with 3/4 kiddos in some form of school, so we were grateful to stumble upon this day :). Thanks to BKSE for hosting us, we had such a great time (as always!)!!!

Uncle B managed to squeeze the 3 musketeers into the back seat of his car for the ride to/from the museum :).

Heading into the museum, we had to stop for a few spontaneous howls/growls :).

Helloooooo Mr. T-Rex!

If you know me, you know that as a child, I donated thousands of coins to the museum via this exact lion LOL :). The kids weren't too sure about him yet (watch D back away), but they'll warm up in time :).

Playing with Mars sand...and water, because how can there possibly be sand without water anywhere kids are involved ;).

Once the infrared camera was located, non-stop fun and experimenting commenced :). Below, D and E give us an idea of what happens when clothes are lifted up to expose warm tummies.

At first, P was more interested in a neighboring telescope :). Perhaps she'll take after her Nana Angel ♥ with a love for all things 'scope'.

And D wasn't convinced either, so he investigated the sun.

But then!...Uncle B pulled out a coooooooold can of pop (note the black shape and green spot on his leg).

And tested it on E's belly.

If you look closely, you can see the mark it left on her belly.

Then we headed off to see some dinos ♥.

And saw the Snowmastadon project along the way. Unfortunately, the bones were covered in plastic as no one was working on them, but how cool to see them even through plastic.

The entrance to the dino exhibit. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take pics/video while inside, so I snuck forgot the rules and took this one and was done.

The dino exhibit was nothing short of amazing! There were several interactive dinos, including a Triceratops who got mad if you got too close to her babies and Sue, the T-Rex who roared at you if you approached too quickly. They were SO lifelike, it actually scared the kids a little at first. But by the end, we had them trying to get roars from Sue and stomps from the Triceratops mommy. Too cool!!!!

Post-dino play, we headed into a neat area where there are a lot of hands-on things for the kids to do. Here, the big kid helps the little ones float scarves :).

P was more interested in exploring the inner-workings of the human body than floating scarves though. MT, this one's for YOU :)!!!!

And, of course, they touched the beautiful clear stone in the entryway. The same stone I touched another thousand times when I was a kid :D.

Muffins! We stopped for a small snack on the way out and they all choose muffins over cookies. Huh? Well, I will disclose that they pretty much ate the sugary tops off and left the rest LOL :).

And, the best part? We got to take some super funny pics for free :)!

ROAR!

The ladies taking these pics humored the big kids and let us sneak in for one too :).
