Poudre Canyon Fun

Another weekend, another spectacular camping trip! This time, we made our way up to the Lower Narrows campground and joined my brother and his family and my Dad and Ann for a fun celebration of Father's Day and Dad's birthday! Awesome time, and I have a few mosquito bites to prove it lol :).

Our campsite. We decided to forgo the two tent idea for now and went with the family camp thing. I enjoyed sleeping with glow-stick night lights both nights lol, and P snuggled as close as she could possibly get. The noise from the river was fabulous and helped us sleep soundly.

Sooooooo glad I threw in some buckets and shovels. Since P has a love for all things dirt, I thought perhaps this might prevent her from digging with her fingers and hands :).

Uncle B and family's campsite just a hop, skip and jump away from ours.

D contemplates the 'rushing river'. I'd like to add that I would assess it to be a RAGING river :). Heeeeelloooooo snow melt!

For two adventurous boys, what could be better than throwing rocks into a roaring river?!

Sibling love!

Aunt K found the best seat in the house!

Trying to keep four kids from accidentally plunging into the icy, racing Poudre River while smiling for a picture isn't something just anyone could do ;).

All smiles :D! Yep, super glad for those dollar store shovels!

Me and E ♥!

P shoveling water :).

What? You mean I'm not supposed to eat it? P spent most of the weekend looking like this :). Like I said, a love for all things dirt.

Miss E with her darling hat! Unfortunately, the smile picture turned out totally fuzzy. But she did give me a great one :).

Cousin love ♥!

I managed to get P to take a small time-out for some caloric intake!

D too!

Poppa and Ansy's campsite, also a hop, skip and jump away from ours.

D got in some tree climbing with his cousins and some other campers.

Poppa had a marvelous surprise for all the kiddos...their very own fishing poles and tackle boxes! Thank you so much Poppa!!!! Here, he shows S and D how to get them fishing ready.

P's pole came equipped with a purple sparkle fish (no hooks for the 2-year-old)...needless to say, it couldn't have been more perfect!!! Not sure who had more fun casting it, me, Ansy or P LOL :)!

Ansy shows P how to cast while G helps D keep watch over his pole.

Poppa helping D load night-crawlers onto his hook. Mommy declined to help with this activity lol (ewwwwwwww!). I have to add that there was a man fishing up-pond from us a bit who shared his tips, bought bait for us, etc. etc. etc. Refreshing, and awesome to know there are still wonderful, honest, genuine and caring people/strangers out there!!!!

Poppa explaining the fine art of fishing to D ♥.

P showing Ansy how to use her tackle box :)!

The Griffiths at play :)!

Uncle B supervising E, or perhaps it was the other way around ;). Miss E took to fishing like a, well, a fish in water lol. She was amazing!!

Aunt K watches over the S-man, who also did an amazing job!

And G helping D :). The best part?!? G took over at some point and caught a fish! My legs couldn't run fast enough to grab the camera and document this event unfortunately, and the clever little fish managed to escape. Darn! But, I dare say G had a great time and was then 'hooked' by the challenge of catching a fish :).

Miss P couldn't get enough of Aunt K lovin'...and her yummy squeeze cheese :)!

Like father, like son...

Like father, like son, like son \o/!

D loves his Poppa hugs...

...and Ansy snuggles ♥!

Ahem. All I can say is that there was indeed a moose-spotting. Mooooo, errrr...sssssss, errrrr...WTH?!?! Mr. Moose caused quite the commotion in the campsite as he was feeling all too comfortable getting veeeeeery close to us all. Thankfully, his interest lay in munching the local flora, and not the local campers :).

We HAD to stop by Vern's on the way home for some of their famous cinnamon rolls. I can't even remember how long it has been since I ate one of those, but let me just say that they are still as yummy as evah!!!

P's sort-of-post-cinnamon roll smile :)

D's very-post-cinnamon roll smile. Not a single crumb left on his plate :).

Now it is time for a few weekends at home, lounging by the pool and enjoying the summer sun :)! Thank you Poppa, Ansy, Uncle B, Aunt K, S and E for such a fun camping trip! We can't wait to do it again!!
