So, we have had an interesting and busy past few days. Where to start? Sunday afternoon we took D out for a walk as the weather was pretty nice...oh wait, that is everyday lately :). Anyhow, we noticed he was sounding a little hoarse, but weren't sure exactly why, so just decided to see what materialized. He also started coughing a little bit, but nothing awful, just a dry cough. By 7 PM when we put him to bed, he had a slight fever and his cough was sounding a little worse. You know why this was all happening so fast? Because we were scheduled to leave on the airplane at 8 AM the next day, leaving us no time to see a doctor if necessary. At 9 PM, D's cough turned into this horrible sounding bark, the likes of which I have never heard. He was extremely restless and crying everytime he coughed. I was listening to him on the monitor and freaking out that he wasn't breathing, so eventually got him and put him in bed with me (G was still up working). By 11 PM we were starting to get really worried and at 1:15 AM I started checking our options as far as Urgent Care or Emergency Room as his temperature was really high. He vomited on G while I was checking options, so we decided it was Emergency Room time. He was diagnosed with the croup (bronchitis if you are an adult), given some steriods to open his airway, and a bunch of other medicine to bring down his fever. The doctor told us it would be ok to fly anyway, just to keep him medicated for the fever and only have him drink water else we have another FL trip on our hands. Anyhoo, D got about 2 hours of sleep and G and I got none, but we decided to go ahead with the trip. Thankfully, D was a total champ and slept most of the way (allowing G and I to get in a few winks) and has been mostly ok while we have been here in OH. Nights aren't the greatest, but he is doing fine during the day. It should only last 5 - 7 days, so just a few more to go. Whew...I didn't like that first so much.
A snowy tractor ride with Grandpa.
In balloon heaven with the balloons Grandma brought home for him.
Enjoying the ride in Giant Eagle.
The other major first is his first haircut. Let me just start by saying he looks like a whole different little boy. A little boy rather than mom's little baby!!! D issued no tears; Mom did all that for him. Who knew I could get emotional over a haircut. It was a really fun event; G's Aunt did the cutting and the whole family gathered to watch. D did such a great job; no fussing or crying of any type, just his usual chill self. He even gave people smiles while it was in progress. And admittedly, it looks much better now. I will miss his curls, but I do have them to save for a little while as I adjust to his new look :).
Bye Bye Curls!
Here we go!
Thank you for my haircut Aunt Kiki and Uncle Jim!
A post-cut kiss for Grandma.

What a great haircut! I'm so sorry D got the croup right before you were set to travel! I'm glad you have been able to enjoy to trip in spite of the less than ideal start. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
