Sand, Surf, Hold the Sun

We had a fun outing to a local beach yesterday afternoon despite some cool temps and lack of sun :). Typical Monterey summer! D had a blast walking around in the sand, but was not interested in getting even his toes in the water once he felt how cold it was. He happily chased the seagulls around screaming, "guac, guac, guac!" (he apparently thought they were ducks...though to be fair there were ducks in the water), tossed sand around with his shovel, got chased by Mom and Dad, chased Mom and Dad, and ultimately, splashed down in the water resulting in an immediate departure to the hotel to secure dry clothes and a warm bath :). This morning he had fun touring the NPS campus and riding in the elevator in the hotel, and after his nap I think we will try the beaches once more.
