The Arrival of Fall

In our home, the arrival of Fall means many things. Remembering to have the sprinkler system water the yard earlier in the evening and then remembering to turn it off entirely...lest we want to fix broken pipes in the Spring. Shutting down the swamp cooler and firing up the heater...preferably before the night temperatures get close to freezing. Putting up the Halloween decorations and carving pumpkins...a personal favorite. Of course, since we live in a neighborhood swarming with high school kids, we choose to leave the pumpkins indoors so we don't find them face down as tire fodder in the street the next day. Most notably however, Fall brings the ability to easily locate the two furry beasts who once ruled this roost (pre-D). Yes, they have identified the warmest room in the house and instead of lounging on "their" couch in their cat beds (which makes hair removal much simpler), they take up residence on our bed:

Note the American Flag blanket and two striped pillows. These? These are to keep hair off of the comforter since it is harder to wash. Also note how A (on the left) has managed to squeeze herself into the 2 inch space between the hair-catching blanket and the hair-catching pillow :). So much for hair control efforts in our household :).
