Last Thursday, we headed to the Bear Creek Nature Center for their Happy Hikers program. It was a super program with lots of great info about safe hiking/camping. It was GREAT to hear the same things come from someone else's mouth that come from mine all the time, as well as learning a few new tips, like using a trash bag as an emergency sleeping bag. The kids got to make backpacks and then load them up with a few essential items of their choosing. It was fun to see what they picked and help them decide what they really need vs. want when on a hike. Next hike...they'll be carrying their own packs :D!
Making backpacks
D demo-ing how to use a trash bag as a rain poncho
P helping remove an item from the instructor's backpack to determine whether it was essential
Taking a break to 'use' the supplies in their packs :)
And, last but not least, I had the pleasure of Ladies Birthday Night Out last Friday, in honor of my friends summer birthdays! What a treat to be able to socialize without being disrupted every few seconds :). Happy Birthday ladies!!
