New Rooms - Finished At Last

Though it has taken us pretty much the entire month of September, we finally managed to get D's new room all set up, backfilled ours since he basically has all of our old furniture, and established a make-shift office in the garage. We are very happy with the results all around; it is a whole different experience to have real bedroom furniture (for adults) and to see D enjoy jumping around on his new bed and enjoy going into and playing in his new room. We decided to just put a mattress on the floor for now, and when he stops rolling off, we will then look for an actual frame. I have tested the movement of the mattress a bunch, wondering if he could somehow move it enough to wedge himself between the wall and the mattress, and it is impossible. I can't do it without getting off the bed and pushing with all my might, so I think we will be good to go! The only thing we can't quite figure out is how to keep him out of the blinds; he can reach them if he stands on the bed. If we pull them up slightly, the room gets really light, if we leave them down, he can mess with them. If anyone has any ideas, we would love to hear about them!!

We finally resorted to roller shades the kids rooms. They can still reach them if they are down, but at least they can't hurt themselves on them. They also darken the room a little bit better.

Wow! Everything looks GREAT! Sorry, no advice on the blinds - we battle them all the time here as well.
