We roused the kids from their beds at 3:45 AM and made our way through a smokey haze to the Colorado Springs Airport. What a treat to leave straight from home :). The kids were super excited to see Grandpa and Grandma, so the task of getting them up and out was easy breezy. Plus, they were excited to fly since we hadn't for quite some time. This trip reassured us that the kids are finally at an age where travel can be fun, rather than disastrous lol. Some pics...
Airplane smiles! Good thing given this is pre-6 AM :).
We had a short layover in Chicago O'Hare, and thankfully, they had escalators :).
Upon arrival, we were whisked off to a yummy lunch at Joe's Crab Shack, a favorite of everyone's!
Grandpa and Grandma had the neatest bounce house/pool evah set up in their backyard when we got there!! The kids couldn't wait to get in and they had a total blast with Uncle C.
Both kids enjoyed playing on the 'rocketship'. This was seriously the kids favorite part of the swing set and my guess is it is because this doesn't exist on any playground I've seen today. I remember them from when I was a kiddo though lol.
Note: By the underwear pics, you'll see that they were out playing in the water
before we got their luggage containing their suits lol (those were in a
different car).
Fun in the bounce house!
Tractor rides with Grandpa!
Friday, June 29th
Grandma gave the kids a pair of 4th of July sunglasses; you can see P didn't like hers one little bit ♥.
In anticipation of the upcoming party, a special delivery was made straight to Grandpa and Grandma's front doorstep :). The kids were sooooooooo excited!
'Planting' flags :).
Posing in front of the ice-cream-box-o-fatlove :).
P also got her hair trimmed up by B while there and...
...had some pink and purple (of course!) extensions put in :).
Bippity Boppity B also offered to give her a manicure, complete with purple sparkling polish ♥.
LOL D, you're supposed to eat the ice cream, not swim in it ;).
Tractor rides with Dad!
Grandpa and Grandma hooked the kids up with some bunk beds and new sheet sets for the visit. P LOVED her princess ones :).
Visiting with Aunt KiKi :).
Kinect! The kids enjoyed playing a rafting game and we enjoyed watching them play lol.
In the evening, we went out and tried to catch lightening bugs. Too cool! Wish we had those here in the Springs, dusk is certainly a sight to behold with these bugs flying around while lighting up.
TBC :)
