Memories

Slowly walking along the road, hearing only the crunch of autumn leaves as the crisp fall air swirls softly around me.
Fingertips frozen, toes tingling.
Leaves float lazily to the ground, rich drops of rainbow color on nature’s canvas.
An endless patchwork of beauty.
The silence is interrupted by tiny giggles and screams of delight… what feels like a thousand falls ago suddenly flashing in my mind.
Orange, red, yellow… leaves sailing high as small bodies leap gleefully into neatly raked piles.
And I’m grateful for every leaf I see… precious memories of seasons past.
Of times yet to come.
