Another 6 Weeks?!

Chuckle.Chuckle.Chuckle. I was told, once again, that I am to do nothing but walk for the next 6 weeks. Excuse me, but WHAT?!? Why is it that so many of my friends were told they could start running and doing other exercise almost immediately after giving birth? Or maybe they just went ahead and did it despite what the doc said? Well, I followed the doc's word entirely after D's birth, but decided not to this time. I completed a small tri right before I got pregnant with P and worked out religiously during pregnancy up until the last week when I was just too tired. I feel like I must be in decent enough shape given all that to at least start running so long as I pay attention to my body. So, I decided to re-write my post-partum instructions and ran two days ago and again today, and it felt GREAT! I also biked today without any worry about how high my heart rate was getting. Can you say heaven?! So, hopefully at my 6-week check up there won't be any issues, and my decision to disregard 6 weeks of only walking won't come back to bite me :)!

I am right there with you. You are in great shape, so I am certain you will be great. I did the same thing and I am fine.

Me too. I was running 2 weeks after my 2nd child was born and was fine. You may want to keep in mind that your ligaments are still loose and your bones are not at their best, so don't push distance or speed for a while or you may get injured. I hurt my hip pushing distance & speed too quickly after my first pregnancy training for a half marathon. I didn't make that mistake the 2nd time and worked up slowly. I'm so glad you feel great!!!
