Today D had his nine month check up...he actually turned nine months on December 23rd, but the appointment was delayed due to holidays and travel. He weighed in at 20 pounds (40th percentile) and was 28 1/2 inches tall (50th percentile). We are excited about the weight since that means we can turn his car seat around as soon as he is 12 months old! The doc also said (for the first time) that she can see a bunch of teeth getting ready to come in. She suspects that they will come in all about the same time, so he will go from having none to having a ton. And yes, we have stocked up on baby Tylenol/Ibuprofen just in case he appears to have a lot of pain from this impending experience. How exciting!! I took him in about a month ago for his eye and at that time the doc did not see any evidence of emerging teeth...amazing what one months time brings as far as baby development goes. Although he has not started crawling, he has become a very proficient roller and in the last week is showing signs of an emerging true-to-form crawl. We are still uncertain about what color hair and eyes he will end up with, though we suspect they will both be a mixture: G is blond/blue and I am brown/brown. He says "dada" and "mama" though not towards either of us yet. He does babble some, but still mostly makes funny sounds and appears to be testing out all that his tongue can do between razzberries, slobber and some other crazy noises he has started to make. Very cute! He was a phenomenal traveler given delays on 3 out of 4 flights, less than 4 hours of sleep during one day/night of travel and a previous busy week of meeting people and being in different locations. We are truly blessed to have such an easy-going baby who is general happy so long as he gets enough sleep and food. It has been an amazing nine months watching him grow, develop and flourish; I continue to wonder what happened to our 7 pound 7 ouncer :). And no matter where we go, he continues to charm the pants off of everyone with his beautiful smile and spiky hair-do. More often than not we hear how pretty he is, although most people then ask if it is ok to say that about a boy. Our reply? Of course! And for those who are aware and keeping track, we are not pregnant yet...unmistakable evidence showed up yesterday. We have been trying since the middle of September and are a little surprised that it is taking so long given our first experience. We are not in any hurry though, thankfully, and are patiently awaiting the day we (hopefully) see positive test results!
And yes, one of D's favorite toys continues to be the crazy green (alien) ball.
