It's a Zoo Out There!

Last Thursday, I took the kids to the zoo since we had a free day and LOTS of energy needing to be expended lol :). The zoo has become one of our most favorite haunts, particularly on cool Fall and Spring days. I will miss these trips with them both this Fall when D enters kindergarten :(. So, we're making the most with what time we have left!!

We spotted some beautiful daffodils and had to get a picture ♥.

My very favorite animal was in a great location for pictures!

I had to get this shot for a comparison, but seriously, I can't keep the kids out of here anyway lol :).

Gobble till ya wobble! This guy was all angry with me and puffed himself up to look scccccaaaaarrrrry ;).

Making salad for the zoo animals!

Petting the Bearded Dragon for their hard work making salads!

Rider-P!
 Rider-D!

Chick-a-D-P-D-P!

LOL! A bird found D's hat and didn't want to leave :). I found this hilarious until...

...he decided my hat looked like a pretty cool spot too :)!

Bird-feeder-P!

Bird-whisperer-D :)!

Another few pictures for posterity, and cuteness of course!

We rode the merry-go-round a few times :).

D insisted I get a picture of the sea urchin and his creepy eye. Well, I'm not certain that is his eye, but that is what D has dubbed it for now.

Feeding the chickens!

I finally let them climb on this statue for some fun and a picture, of course!

Awwwwww!

D asked if we could drive up to the 'castle' on the side of the mountain-top, so up up and away we went to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. It literally scrapes the sky lol!

This pose is from the bottom of the shrine believe it or not!

Working our way up!

We felt like we were on top of the world!

At the top!

WHEW! We made it. The shrine is in the background, just peaking out from the trees. Let me just say this...my fear of heights kicked in something FIERCE going up the shrine. It was all I could do to make it look like I was having fun lol, as I don't want to install this crazy fear in the kiddos. Beautiful views for a reward though!
