Many thanks to my friend B, for this fabulous food idea!!
Then, fully-loaded, we headed down to the FC Nature Center for their 'Ants Come Marching' program.
I found two colorful little ants along the way :).
Listening carefully to their wonderful teacher, Ms. Hallie.
P-ant ♥.
Notice the Ant Tunnel in the background. This was a really neat program!
Getting their 'larvae' ready to be transported into the ant tunnel.
P-ant checking for any ant eaters :).
D-ant ♥
We raise 'em strong!
Ms. Hallie getting everyone ready to go find 10 ant hills.
And they're off!
She found a very tiny frog along the way.
Checking out the gi-normous ant hill!
Ms. Hallie tested a few foods to see what was the ant's favorite. The picture-taker was so busy taking pictures, she didn't catch the result though :).
P ants-in-your-pants dancing!
D and M ants-in-your-pants dancing!
If you look carefully, you can see a Great Horned Owl sitting on the curved branch. My not-so-expensive camera was zoomed as far as it could zoom to even get this close. This tree is along the nature center trail, but by the time we were aware of the owl's presence, we were pretty far away.
Then it was off to a splash pad in Fountain. A free splash pad!!! Here all four kiddos are preparing to enter the wet zone!
P did get wet, but spent most of her time
M and P enjoy a spin around the pad :)...
...while D and M engaged in water play :).
The frog finally convinced P to leave her perch and get wet.
D had himself a TIME! I think he could've played ALL afternoon :). Here he is lounging. And yes, there really was that much spray in the air between him and my camera lol.
Fabulous morning!
