D enjoyed doodling on the floor of Steamworks in Durango, CO. We visited there last weekend along with our friends M and G and ironically Uncle B, Aunt K, S and E and our mutual friends R, R, M, CA and W were also there :). Let the DGO invasion begin! It was a total blast visiting old haunts, seeing the fall colors, and enjoying a Cowboy~down ;o) while there!
Along with doodling on the floor, D was ready to submit an application for employment as he happily delivered peanuts to all the customers.
We took a lovely walk along one of the local paths and even had a chance to catch the train coming back from its trip to Silverton. I have forgotten what it is like to actually ride the train up there as opposed to pedaling my *** up two mountain passes directly from that inferno down under :O). It was a beautiful day and D really enjoyed seeing the choo~choo go over the bridge.
Where was P~cakes this whole time you ask?? She spent much of it on her own special little perch on my back :O). BUT, below you will see that she also had fun in the random highchairs throughout town.
And in G's arms :)...1...2...3...AWWWWWWWW!
Our friends G and M...thanks you two for meeting us in DGO and putting up with our madness ;)!!
Early Sunday morning found us at the train station waiting to see the train take off for its daily Silverton run. And we weren't disappointed! Look closely and you can see G and D in the pic below...they wanted to say hello to the engine :O).
Mr. Engine was VERY loud in announcing his presence as he began winding his way through the streets of Durango...but we didn't mind!
And, back in the 505 it was Balloon Fiesta week...so we were serenaded by beautiful balloons all throughout the sky most of the week. Thursday morning was gorgeous, and the balloons took advantage. Below is a pic taken right from our back deck.
G and the kiddos in their own personal cadillac touring around the balloon field on Thursday evening pre-balloon glow.
La Corridor of Balloons! It never ceases to amaze me how gigantic these guys are when you are right down next to them. And how noisy. And how HOT when they fire~in~the~hole them. Truly AMAZING!!
The space shuttle was back again this year...I wasn't able to get a good picture of it being torched though...at least when it gets lit...it looks appropriate ;O).
May the force be with you!! Darth showed up again this year too...he was trying to find Yoda ;).
D and his friend H had a wonderful time cruising around the field hand~in~hand. Seriously, this is how they viewed most of the evening...it was TOO CUTE for words :).
Here you can see the balloons starting to glow with the onset of dusk.
Nothing special, just thought this was a great picture of a balloon getting torched. The heat that radiates off this is enough to keep a body warm!
And as D and H strolled around the field, their sibs took it all in from the comfort of their ATVs...err...strollers. F and P did really well at their first ever balloon glow!
And I think most everyone knows that these two cuties are my absolute favorite balloons...evah! Lilly and Joey were in fab form Thursday PM and were even sporting their breast cancer awareness ribbons!!!! Lilly says to 'fight like a girl' while Joey says 'real men wear pink'!
I finally caught a good video of the balloons during one of their many *group torches*. This is seriously one of the most amazing things to listen to...the video doesn't do it justice. Such a crowd pleaser!!!
H and D also watched the post~glow fireworks together...holding hands most of the time. Darling, darling, darling. Now if we could just figure out how to get them to share so well when they play LOL ;o).
Friday AM was another spectacular ABQ skyline...this is a view from the street corner nearest us...
...and here is a view standing in our driveway and looking West.
And, prior to all the balloon madness, we did get over to D, H and F's house to play. You can see from the below picture that D and H found the dress-up clothes :). *giggles*...I seriously don't think it gets any cuter.
And P-cakes and F had themselves a great time playing on the floor and smiling and giggling away. Pretty soon they will both be giving H and D a run for their toys :D.
It has been a busy but truly wonderful few weeks and we thank our friends who have spent time with us!!! *mwah and big hugs*
