Yesterday, I had myself a fling \o/! A Spring one that is :D. My adventure began at 8:10 AM and concluded 1 hour, 43 minutes and 44 seconds later. And let me just add that Rio Rancho is HILLY! The Spring Fling Sprint Triathlon was certainly a wonderful race to begin the season with :). It was fun to share the experience with my wonderful friend R and also with G and the kids who surprised me by coming to help cheer me on!! The run kicked the race off, a nice hilly course, and I came in at a 27:27 (5k) which I believe includes the transition time to get from run to bike. The bike followed next, another hilly course, and my time was 1:07:57 (30k), again including transition to swim. I realized that my strength in biking is powering through the flat and downhill...hills kick me in the a@@ lol. The swim was the last leg and once again I was reminded why I would like to try a tri :D where the race is kicked off with the swim leg. It was a complete cluster**** of people and there was no good way to pass. After getting head-on-ed during my first few attempts, I just resolved to
float swim
very slowly behind dude in front of me. So, my time of 8:21 (400 yd) does not reflect my actual capability unfortunately. But, it was totally fun and I was reminded of my love for doing these things ♥. G and the kids saw me finish the bike leg and do/finish the swim leg, and it was so fun to be able to hug and kiss them all at the end ♥ :D. Thanks G, D and P!!! R, we have to do this again soon :)! Congrats to you!
R and me getting ready to start the race!

The
pretend I am actually breaking a sweat 'swim'

The bestest fans evah ♥!!!

All in all, I came in 105/191. R and I commented when we first got there that the majority of the crowd appeared to be in really good shape and missing was the we're-just-giving-this-a-shot-and-barely-trained crowd lol. Results don't lie ♥. However, in my age group, I was
lucky not too many 35-39 year old women decided to participate 3rd/9 \o/...good enough for an award had we stuck around. My award was better...brunch with the fam and R and her fam at Flying Star! Yumminess!!!
